When we were developing our Eco Pan range, we felt that it wasn’t enough for us to just develop the world’s friendliest plant-based, non-stick cookware (although we’re very proud of that!) We also wanted to do something to show our commitment to tackling climate change.
We believe that we can all work together to create a better world for our generation and generations to come. Which is why, to support the launch of the Eco Pan range, we are very excited to announce a charity sponsorship with TREE AID.
TREE AID helps people in the drylands of Africa by working with local communities to help them to both protect and grow new trees for themselves and future generations and - so far - they’ve planted over 17 million trees.
Prestige are supporting this amazing charity who contributes to the Great Green Wall initiative, to grow trees and protect land across the entire width of Africa. For each pan we sell, we’ll help TREE AID plant a tree in Africa - contributing to the growth of the Great Green Wall across the continent.
Deforestation and land degradation over decades has seen a dramatic decrease in farmable land in the drylands of Africa. The land is no longer fertile enough to grow sufficient food for the people who live there. Millions are forced to go hungry or, worse, flee their homes in search of employment elsewhere to support their families.
TREE AID has partnered with the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to grow trees across the drylands of Africa in support of the Great Green Wall campaign.
The Great Green Wall Sahara and Sahel Initiative is an African-led movement. It is the epic ambition to grow an 8,000km natural wonder, which will span the length of the Sahel, from Senegal to Djibouti.
By 2030, Tree Aid says that the Great Green Wall will be the largest living structure on the planet, 3 times the size of the Great Barrier Reef.
